On June 12, 2012 as part of an operation planned by the police, Barrett was arrested with another person, Kayhan Kiani, after an illegally obtained firearm was handed over to a man who was in a vehicle. The weapons were confiscated during the investigation. Barrett was charged with firearms related offences. In 2013, he pleaded guilty in court and received a sentence of six and a half of imprisonment.
Barrett was matched against Alex Reid in a Middleweight Super Title’s bout at UCMMA 22 and Warriors Creed event on 6 August, 2011. It was his first bout since his KO victory over new Mark Carling and his Middleweight debut.
