Jared Woodfill is one of the most popular and richest Lawyer who was born on August 9, 1968 in Houston, United States. Jared Ryker Woodfill V, born August 9, 1968, is an American lawyer who was the chairman of Harris County Republican Party from 2002 to 2014. Woodfill was elected chairman for six consecutive two-year terms. Woodfill was Harris County’s youngest and longest-serving chairman. Woodfill is well-known for his fiscal and social conservative views. KRIV Fox 26 named him Houstonian-of-the Year in 2015. Jared Woodfill was appointed spokesman for Campaign For Houston in 2015. This group opposed Annise Parker’s equality ordinance. It won, 61 to 39% among the electorate.

Woodfill was in trouble in his 2014 campaign for a fourth term, even though he had the strong backing of Gary Polland and other conservative leaders within the party. He was unseated by the Houston engineer-turned-lawyer Paul Simpson, who received a $90,000 donation from County Judge Ed Emmett, who was unopposed for the Republican nomination for his office. Woodfill and Emmett fell out of favor in 2012. Emmett claims Woodfill claimed personal credit for the creation of “victory centres”, when Emmett and state Republican party were responsible. Simpson supporters claimed that Woodfill was less successful in fundraising and that he had emphasized “social issues” as chairman. This included a lawsuit against Mayor Parker over benefits for gay couples.

In March 2015, a year after he lost the county chairmanship, Woodfill declared his candidacy for state Republican chairman when Steve Munisteri stepped down to join the 2016 presidential campaign waged by U.S. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky. Others in the race were Wade Emmert, chairman of the Dallas County Republican organization, former state party vice chairman Robin Armstrong, an African-American physician from Dickinson in Galveston County, and Tom Mechler of Amarillo, the party finance chairman since 2010. The 62-member Republican Executive Committee elected Mechler on the third secret ballot in a special meeting in Austin. Mechler and Cathie Adams had lost the chairmanship race to Munisteri at the 2010 convention in Dallas. Adams subsequently lost the vice- chairmanship race at the 2016 state convention held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas on May 13, 2016, to Amy Clark of Floresville.

In 2017, as editor-in-chief of the group Conservative Republicans of Texas, Woodfill endorsed State Senator Lois Kolkhorst’s bill to require persons to use public restrooms corresponding to their genitalia at birth. He called upon Joe Straus, Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives from San Antonio, to allow the lower chamber to vote on the legislation. On March 9, 2017, he wrote:

Joe Straus made it clear that he does not support SB 6 and allows men to use women’s restrooms. He continues to spread “fake news,” about the potential negative economic effects SB 6 could have on our economy. Straus prefers to slow down a bill to prevent it from being voted on by the whole House. He has hand-picked appointments in the Calendars Committee to this purpose. No matter what the situation, any Straus-opposed bill is never considered by the House. This is Joe Straus’ MO whenever he wants conservative legislation to be killed and his fingerprints on the corpse of any bill. We the people can’t sit by and let Joe Straus’ political correctness sacrifice the safety of our daughters, mothers, and wives. Remember that Joe Straus owes its position to Democrats. He fought with the majority of Democrats and some Republicans in 2009 to defeat former Republican Speaker Tom Craddick. I don’t know if Straus ever read the platform of the Republican Party of Texas. If he had, he would find on page 11 the following: “Gender Identity – We urge the enactment of legislation addressing the individuals’ use of bathrooms, showers and locker rooms that correspond with their biologically-determined sex.”

Jared IV Woodfill is Woodfill’s father. He was a former employee at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Houston) who helped to bring home the crew from the Apollo 13 lunar mission. His mother, Betty Beck (formerly of San Jacinto College), was a former teacher. Woodfill is a graduate of Clear Lake High School, University of Texas at Austin and St. Mary’s University School of Law, San Antonio, Texas. Woodfill is a member of the firm Woodfill and Pressler LLP. Paul Pressler, a retired conservative jurist, is his law partner.

Woodfill was previously vice-chairman of State Senate District 17 before he was elected as the county chairman to succeed Gary M. Polland. He also served as the legal counsel to the Harris County Republican Party. Woodfill was elected county chairman for the third time in 2010 over Donald Jeffrey Large. Large had previously run in Texas House of Representatives District 140 in 2004 and received less than one-third of the vote. Large’s bid for the position of county chairman was thwarted by a lack in campaign fundraising. Large received 7,099 votes from 117,757 votes, which is 6 percent of the total.

To retain the chairmanship, Mechler was again elected in 2016 by delegates to the regular state Republican convention. The race became heated when Steven F. Hotze, a Woodfill supporter from Katy in Harris County, who heads the group Conservative Republicans of Texas, claimed that Mechler supports a “disgusting homosexual agenda”. Former chairman Steve Munisteri called Hotze’s allegation “despicable.” Woodfill withdrew when twenty-seven of the thirty-one state Senate districts supported Mechler’s retention and declared his own backing of Mechler.
