Janice Scroggins is one of the most popular and richest Pianist who was born on July 17, 1955 in Idabel, Oklahoma, United States. Scroggins was the son of Henry and Mary Scroggins, who were born in Oklahoma in 1955. Scroggins began playing the piano when she was three years old. She learned music from her grandmother and mother, both of whom were organists and church pianists. After graduating from high school in Oakland, California, she moved to Portland, Oregon in 1978 with Arietta Ward, her infant daughter.
Scroggins was presented with a free festival on August 9, 2014 by the Strange Tones, Norman Sylvester, and the Linda Hornbuckle band, Portland blues musicians.
Scroggins was inducted into Cascade Blues Association Hall of Fame in 1992. In 2013, she was inducted into Oregon Music Hall of Fame.

Scroggins released an album entitled “Janice Scroggins plays Scott Joplin” in 1987. In 1988, the album was nominated to win a Grammy Award. In 2013, she released her second major album, Piano Love. She performed at the Portland Jazz Festival, March 2013.
Scroggins died of a heart attack on May 27, 2014, shortly after playing piano for a Portland Community College class. She died at the Sylvania campus. Scroggins was fifty-eight years old at the time.
