Jang Ja-yeon Biography

Jang Ja-yeon is one of the most popular and richest Actor who was born on January 25, 1980 in Jeongeup, North Jeolla, South Korea. Jang Ja-yeon, Korean: jangjayeon; 25 January 1980 – 7 March 2009), was a South Korean actress. She was born in Jeongeup (North Jeolla Province), South Korea. In 2006, she made her debut in the entertainment business when she appeared on a TV commercial. Her role as Sunny, an antagonist in the KBS TV drama series Boys Over Flowers was well-known.

Jang committed suicide on March 7, 2009 by hanging herself in her Bundang district, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. Jang called her sister at 3:30 that afternoon to complain about the “overwhelming stresses” she was experiencing and said that she “wanted death”. Jang’s sister was unable to reach Jang on the phone and Jang returned to their home at 7:42 pm to find Jang’s body hanging from the staircase banister.

At the time of her death at the age of 29, Jang had been starring in Boys Over Flowers. She had been suffering from depression, and it was revealed in 2019 that the initial investigation into her death in 2009 was corrupted and false. The 2009 investigation concluded that her death was a suicide at first, and was reopened in 2018. Her death caused a national scandal in 2009 when it was widely spread by the media that she had been sexually and physically abused by a number of prominent entertainment executives during her career, most importantly the CEO of Jang’s former talent agency, The Contents Entertainment, Kim Sung-hoon. After three witness testified against the CEO, Kim was found guilty of abuse by the Korean courts, specifically of forcing girls from his agency to come to his birthday party where he forced them to entertain the executives.

Kim Sung-hoon was the former manager of Jang’s management agency. He was arrested in Tokyo in June 2009 for violating his visa. Kim was wanted by the Korean police to be extradited on a warrant relating to Jang’s murder. Kim claimed that he had “committed a crime” in South Korea, and that he had overstayed in Japan in order to avoid arrest. Seven prosecutions were brought about by police after an investigation of twenty figures. Kim was sentenced with 160 hours community service, two years probation, and one year in prison.

Later on, Jang’s ex-boyfriend, Mr. Choi, came forward to suspect Yoon’s intention while she was promoting her book regarding Jang’s death and also receiving money donation on her crowdfunding accounts regarding the case. Choi accused Yoon that she was not a friend of Jang and he never heard of Yoon’s name when Jang was alive. Due to Yoon’s testimonies were not consistent over the years and her other allegations of lies, defamation and frauds, South Korean government has issued 3 arrest warrants on Yoon since October 2019, including one red arrest warrant by the International Criminal Police Agency (ICPO, Interpol) to summon Yoon back to South Korea for the lawsuits. Yoon is currently in Canada. Yoon is also being sued by the people from South Korea who donated money to her.
