Onuora is currently the equality coach of the Professional Footballers Association.
Onuora continued to play frequently in the team of The Gills for the next two seasons until Neil Warnock tempted the player to move from Bramall Lane to sign a two-year contract for Sheffield United, reuniting Onuora with his former Gillingham striker Carl Asaba. But football for Onoura was not a regular fixture at the club and following his debut with Asaba Onuora only played eight appearances in cups and leagues with one goal scored against Burnley. However, following an Achilles injury that ended the season that he suffered, he did not play for United ever again. In August 2003 it was announced that the player would continue as a player with The Blades, but was placed on loan, where he joined Wycombe Wanderers in the first week of the season, on the basis of a one-month loan.
His coaching career began when he was appointed first-team coach at Walsall in July 2004 but his contract was terminated by Walsall’s manager Paul Merson in October 2004, with Merson feeling a more experienced coach was required.
Upon retiring in 2004, Onuora moved into coaching. In July 2007 he successfully completed the final part of the UEFA Pro Licence course and joined a group of only 111 coaches holding the game’s top qualification.
Onoura continued to play for The Stags until Gillingham paid PS25,000 for his services in August of 1996. The club was Priestfield Stadium where Onuora’s goal scoring abilities began to shine the world, as he racked up an impressive total of less than 30 goals during his 18-month period at the club. However, the Gills made a profit on their star frontman by selling Onoura for Swindon Town in March 1998. Further goalscoring successes were in the works and he was at Gillingham until he secured the opportunity to move back in Gillingham on January 20, 2000 after a short loan stint.
