Ibrahim Shekarau is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on November 5, 1955 in Kano, Nigeria. Ibrahim Shekarau (born November 5 1955) was Nigeria’s former minister of education, and a two-term governor of Kano State in Nigeria. The governor was first elected on April 3, 2003, and was reelected on April 7, 2007. He is an active part of the All Progressive Congress (APC). He was among the candidates who wanted to be president during the Nigerian general elections in 2011.

On January 15, 1995 Shekarau moved in January 1995 to the Ministry of Water Resources, Rural and Community Development, and then returned to the Ministry of Education in January until May 1997. He was asked to be transferred to the General Service Directorate of the Cabinet Office, all as the Permanent Secretary. In February 2000 He was transferred to the Civil Service Commission, where the position lasted only four months prior to Civil Service Commission of the Ado Gwaram’s administration transferred Hekarau to Kano’s State College of Arts, Science and Remedial Studies (CASRS) as the Chief Lecturer (Mathematics) in the Department of Physical Sciences, in May 2000. Shekarau continued in this position for 17 months until his voluntary retirement from the Kano State Civil Service on 2 October 2001. After quitting his position as the Chief Lecturer, Shekarau decided to become secretary to the businessman Aminu Dantata. He was employed by Dantata until he was a candidate for Kano State’s governorship elections.

Shekarau became the Deputy Director of Education and was in control for the Bichi Zonal Education Area in 1992. A year later He was promoted to Director of Planning, Research and Statistics in Ministry of Education. A few years after, he was appointed Director General (Permanent Secretary), Ministry of Education and Youth Development.

Shekarau was born in Kurmawa areas of Kano and was the child of a police officer. He was educated at Gidan Makama Primary School (1961-1967), then at Kano Commercial College (1967-1973) and finally at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1973-1977) where he received a Degree in Mathematics/Education.
