Hiwot Ayalew Yomer (Amharic, heyewate ‘ayaaleewe – born 6 March 1990)is an Ethiopian long distance runner whose specialty is the 3000 metre steeplechase. She came fifth in the event at 2012 Summer Olympics for Ethiopia.

To be selected for Ethiopia at 2013 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, she won the 2013 Jan Meda International. She finished 4th at the 2013 World Championship and 6th in Beijing two years later. She won the African Championships in the 3000m in 2014.

She finished fourth at the Great Ethiopian Run 10K Road Race and Cross de Atapuerca after her track season. She finished second behind her sister at Elgoibar Cross Country in 2012’s start to the year. She won the national championships, which earned her a place on the Ethiopian team to the London Olympics 2012. She also managed fifth place in the Olympic steeplechase finale. She was also a strong performer on the 2012 IAAF Diamond League circuit. However, she was able to prove herself in the steeplechase with an individual best of 9:23.88 mins to place second behind Milcah Chemos Cherwa. She missed the World Championships but was there for the 2011 All-Africa Games. There, she won the silver medal in steeplechase, just behind Hyvin Jepkemoi from Kenya.
