Hisila Yami is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on June 25, 1959 in Kathmandu, Bagmati Zone, Nepal. Hisila Yami (Nepal Bhasa, hisilaaymii), nom du guerre Parvati (born June 25, 1960 in Kathmandu) is a Nepalese politician. She is a member of Naya Shakti Nepal’s Central Committee and was a former president the All Nepal Women’s Association.

She was demoted along with Bhattarai, Dina Nath Sharma and Dina Nath Sharma by the party leadership in 2005. She was reinstated to the Central Committee in July.

She made her first public appearance during then-current peace negotiations between the government & the Maoists on June 18, 2003. [1]

Yami graduated in 1982 from the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi, India. She received her M. Arch. In 1995, she graduated from University of Newcastle upon Tyne, U.K.

Yami was a prominent woman leader in the 1990 protest against the panchayat system. From 1981 to 1982, she was the General Secretary for All India Nepalese Student’s Association. From 1983 to 1996, she was a lecturer in the Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk campus. She was elected President of the All Nepal Women’s Association in 1995. This term was two years. After the establishment of the Communist Party of Nepal, (Maoist), led People’s War in 1996, she went underground. She has been a member of CPN (Maoist), and has worked in various departments, including the International Department.

On April 1, 2007 Hisila Yami joined the interim government of Nepal as Minister of Physical Planning and Works. [2] Following a Maoist boycott of the government from September to December 2007, Yami was again sworn in as Minister of Physical Planning on December 31, 2007. Following her victory in the Constituent Assembly elections, 2008, from Kathmandu constituency no. 7, she became a member of the Constituent Assembly. She joined the CPN (Maoist) led government in September as Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation. Yami is married to fellow Maoist leader Dr. Baburam Bhattarai.
