Hijran Huseynova Biography

Hijran Huseynova is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on August 13, 1955 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Mrs. Hijran Huseynova was born 1955 in Baku. Huseynova completed her secondary education in 1972. She then studied history at the Department of History of Azerbaijan State University, Baku, from 1972 to 1977. She was the history teacher at secondary school No. Baku. She received a PhD degree in History in 1985 and a PhD degree in Political Science in 2001. She has been a professor at Azerbaijan State University since 1988. She is currently the director and professor of Department of Diplomacy and Modern Integration Processes at Azerbaijan State University.

The Democratic Azerbaijan Public Center awarded Mrs. Huseynova “Gizil Buta”, the National Award, in September 2006. This award was given for her achievements in defense of women’s rights and freedoms. 2006, Mrs. Huseynova was awarded the Ambassador of Peace Award. In recognition of her significant contributions to gender equality and the advancement of women, Mrs. Huseynova was awarded UNIFEM Certificate for Appreciation in 2007. In 2008, Mrs. Hijran Huseynova received the Diploma for Peace and Friendship from the International Forum of the Women “Pulse of the Planet” for strengthening friendship relations between nations and conserving cultural traditions. The President of the French Republic awarded Mrs. Hijran Huseynova The National Order of the Legion of Honour in 2010. On August 12, 2015, Mrs. Hijran Huseynova received the Order “Shohrat” for her active participation to the political and social life of Azerbaijan.

She has been an expert on gender programs of OSCE/Council of Europe since 2001. She was an OSCE expert at the conference of women leaders from the Baltic and South Caucuses in February 2002. As an OSCE expert, she led trainings on the subject of gender policy in Azerbaijan’s 15 regions. She was sent to Brussels by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Republic in 2002. Hijran Huseynova received the International Diploma of “Famous Scientists of XXI Century” in 2004. Hijran Huseynova was awarded the academic title of Professor by the Supreme Attestation Commission. This was in September 2007. Hijran Huseynova closely collaborates with Harvard and Western-Eastern Universities in the area of lobbyism as well as issues of International leadership. She is the President of the Azerbaijani Association of International Issues Researches. More than 100 scientific papers have been published in Azerbaijani and overseas. 2005 saw Mrs. Huseynova invited by the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House) and the Caucasus Policy Institute (King’s College) to give a speech on “Conflicts within the South Caucasus: Security, Political and Development Challenges”. Since February 6, 2006, Mrs. Hijran Huseynova has been the Chairperson of State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of Republic of Azerbaijan. She has been the director and professor of Department of Diplomacy and Modern Integration Processes of Azerbaijan since 2006.

Hijran Kamran Qizi Huseynova (Azerbaijani; Hicran Huseynova Kamranqizi; August 13, 1955) was a professor and politician from Azerbaijan. She is currently the Chairwoman of State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of Azerbaijan Republic.

Mrs. Hijran Huseynova began her career as a teacher at #189, a public secondary school. She was also nominated for and received the medal “Best Young Teacher in Azerbaijan Republic”. She was appointed as a post-graduate student in 1978 and began teaching at the History and Oriental Studies departments at Baku State University. She received her PhD in Political History in 1985 and was made Associate Professor in the International Relations Department in 1992. She taught the following courses: History of International Relations and The process of modern integration. Lobbying and Diaspora in international relations. She was elected to the Baku State University’s Scientific Council as a permanent member. She was a prominent participant in the International Program TEMPUS TACIS since 1996 and has given lectures in France, Italy and Italy. She encouraged the collaboration between Azerbaijani and French universities. In 1998-1999, Mrs. Hijran Huseynova was a participant at the Congress of Azerbaijan Youth and Azerbaijan Women. She published “Azerbaijan and the European Integration System” in 1998. Since 1999, she was the Head of the International Relations Department at the State Committee for Women Problems. She was Baku State University’s Dean for International Law and International Relations between 2000 and 2006. From May to June 2000, Mrs. Hijran Huseynova participated in the “Women-Leaders in Caucasus” regional program coordinated by “American Education Development.” In 2001, she attended the international seminars and conferences organised by The Ministry of International Relations of Azerbaijan Republic and The European Union. Hijran Huseynova received the academic degree of Doctor of Political Science in November 2001. Her dissertation topic was “Azerbaijan and the System of European Integration”. She was the first Azerbaijani woman to receive a Doctorate in political science. In 2002, she received a Diploma from the Ministry of Education in recognition of her contributions in the field of education.

She was elected as a member of Milli Majlis at the Parliamentary elections held on February 9, 2020 and dismissed her post of Chairperson of State Committee on Family, Woman and Children Affairs in early March 2020 according to the Decree of the President Aliyev. During the first meeting of the sixth convocation of Milli Majlis, she was elected the head of the Committee on Family, Women, and Children.
