Trimbach is a member and chairman of Task Force II “Internal Security”, and has been since 1 July 2015, the chair of Task Force V (“Fire and Rescue Service Affairs, Civil Protection and Civil Defence”) of the Interior Ministers Conference (IMC). This body is where the federal states of the federation and federal governments meet to discuss topics like civil protection, the consequences of reforming the Bundeswehr, civil defense and protection, as well as the impacts of demographic change on the fire and rescue service, civil defense and volunteering sectors. A crucial role is also played by the defense of critical infrastructures as well as the development of civil protection in light of climate change.
Trimbach was a prosecutor, judge and Federal Ministry of Justice Bonn’s head of division in the Free State of Bavaria. He was the head of the division at the Ministry, but his activities as a judge at the Schweinfurt district court were primarily focused on civil and criminal law. 1988, he received a doctorate in both law and politics (Dr. Iur. utr.) Franz-Ludwig Knemeyer, Julius Maximilian University of Worzburg.
Since 1 February 2012 he as undersecretary has been head of department “Public Order and Security, Police and Regulatory Law, Fire and Civil Protection, Rescue Services” within the Ministry of the Interior and Municipal Affairs of the federal state of Brandenburg where he succeeded Jürgen Storbeck.
Trimbach is also a junior lawyer training supervisor and has a secondary occupation as an examiner at the 1st and 2nd State Law Examination and the author of scientific publications on legal and legal political topics (e.g. in the Neue Juristische Wochenschrift (German: New Legal Weekly Journal), the Neue Justiz (NJ) (German: New Justice Newspaper). He is a co-editor of the “pvt – Polizei Verkehr + Technik” professional magazine (German: pvt – Police, Transport + Technology). Trimbach is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany and the Police Trade Union (GdP). Furthermore, he was a founding member and vice president of the German-Ukrainian Lawyers’ Association.
Trimbach served as a member of Hammelburg’s town council and in Bad Kissingen as a member of the district assembly from 1984 to 1992. He joined the federal state Brandenburg in August 1992. He was appointed judge at the Potsdam district court and remained there until 2007. Hans-Otto Brautigam, the Ministry of Justice and European Affairs, was his boss. He was the head of the division for civil, civil procedure, and cadastre laws, as well as being deputy head of the department for public and private law. Dirk Brouer, who became the Bundesrat Director, was the head of the department. Trimbach specialized in legal regulations relating to pending property matters during that period. Trimbach was the chairman of the State Ministry of Justice staff council since 2002 and a member of federal state personnel commission since 2005.
