Herbert Rusche is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on May 6, 1952 in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Herbert Ludwig Rusche (born 6 May 1952 in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, Rhineland-Palatinate) is a German politician and LGBT activist.

Rusche, an openly gay man, worked in Bundestag for equalizing the age of consent, AIDS causes and financial aid for people living with AIDS. Petra Kelly and Rusche worked together on Tibet. Rusche worked for AIDS organizations and Homosexuelle Selbsthilfe after he had left the Bundestag. Rusche quit The Greens in 2001 due to the party’s decision regarding Kosovo. In 2003 he became a member of the new LGBT organisation Wissenschaftlich- humanitares Komitee (whk) in Hesse. Rusche is a delegate to the Deutsche Buddhistische Union (DBU) since 2004. In 2008, he was elected to the DBU’s Rat (board of directors). He joined the Hesse chapter, German Pirate Party on August 24, 2009.

Later, Rusche was a founding member in Sonstige politische Vereinigung DIE GRUNEN as well as the party Die GRUNEN. Rusche was Landesgeschaftsfuhrer of the Greens in Hesse. The party won 8.6% in Hesse in 1982 and was elected to parliament in Hesse (Hessischer Landtag). Later, the Green party won federal elections and was elected to the Bundestag. From 1985 to 1987, Rusche was a member the Bundestag.

Rusche is openly gay and has been since 1970. In 1972, he and some friends founded Homo Heidelbergensis, which was the first Heidelberg gay group. Rusche joined the Homosexuelle Aktion Berlin (HAW) in 1973. He later worked as an activist for Anderes Ufer in Frankfurt. He became a member at Aktionsgemeinschaft Unabhangiger Deutschenr in Offenbach/Frankfurt, and later joined the Green List Hessen. He was a GLH candidate in 1978 for the parliamentof Hesse. However, he lost to the GLH with 1.1% of the vote.

Rusche was born in Bad Neuenahr. He lived in three cities during his childhood. After his schooling, Rusche lived in Kaiserslautern and Heidelberg, Berlin, Hamburg Offenbach am Main, Offenbach am Main, and Frankfurt am Main. Rusche left the Protestant Church and became a Buddhist in 1978. He also opened Offenbach’s first health food store with a friend in 1977. He was self- employed in the 1990s and ran a telecommunications business. In 2004, he was permanently disabled after a series of health problems.
