Henry Andrade is one of the most popular and richest Athletics Competitor who was born on April 17, 1962 in Sacramento, California, United States. Henry Manuel Andrade, born April 17, 1962, is an American- Cape Verdean hurdler. After years of frustration at the American Olympic Trials, Henry Manuel Andrade, a hurdler who was one of the most successful in the USA during the 1980s and 1990s, finally got his chance to compete in the Olympics. He obtained dual citizenship through his parents’ ancestry, and represented the Cape Verde Islands in 1996 Summer Olympics. He was severely injured and couldn’t make the heats when his olympic moment came. He also set the Cape Verde record for the 110 hurdles at 13.78 at Modesto Relays earlier in the season.

According to some reports, Andrade was a strike replacement wide receiver for the New York Giants in 1987. However, his name is not listed on the NFL.com historical player search. Nor does his name appear on Pro-Football- Reference.com.

Andrade placed 6th in both the 1992 and 1984 U.S. Olympic Trials.

He graduated from Hiram W. Johnson High school in Sacramento, California. He placed third in the 300 meter hurdles of the 1979 CIF California State Meet. He then won the 400-meter hurdles. He was second in 110 metre hurdles at his hometown 1980 Golden West Invitational, where he received the Maree Rodebaugh award as the Most Inspirational athlete.

Andrade was a collegiate football player at Southern Methodist University. He was Wide Receiver on the 1982 and 1981 National Championship football teams. Andrade was named in connection to the Southern Methodist University football scandal which led to the program being given the death penalty. He was also part their National Championship Track and Field Team in 1983. He was the NCAA Indoor Champion at 55m hurdles in 1985. He won the NCAA Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship at 110 metres hurdles later that year.

Andrade received a master’s degree in Physical Education at Long Beach State University in 1996 and has been working as a personal trainer. He remains an active Masters track and field athlete. He is the manager for his nephew Jordin Andrade who has also elected to run for the Cape Verde Islands in the Olympics.
