Westbroek was born at Utrecht and completed his sociology course at Utrecht University in 1973. Het Goede Doel was formed in 1978 by Westbroek and “the other Henk”, (Henk Temmering). Het Goede Doel was one of the most popular Dutch-language bands of the 1980s. He had several hits in the top ten with Temming. In 1991, Het Goede Doel stopped performing. After a brief reunion in 2001, they reunited in 2008 and produced a new album, Gekkenwerk.
He began his radio broadcasting career in 1981. From 1991 to 2003, his first radio show, Denk aan Henk (“Think about Henk”), ran on Dutch radio station 3FM. From August 2004 to March 2006, he resumed the program at Yorin FM. It was renamed Denk als Henk & Friends (“Think like Henk & Friends”) and aired from August 2004 through March 2006. He has been hosting a daily webradio program on KXRadio since 2006, which was founded by Rob Stenders.
