She was a keyboard player and background singer for the band Iconofear before joining Amberian Dawn.

When a few high school heavy-metal boys asked her to sing on their EP, 1997 was the first time she came into contact with heavy music. They were playing death metal at the time and the band was named Agonia. Heidi was recruited to the band in 1997 as a keyboard player and backing singer. The band was renamed Iconofear in 1997. Heidi studied classical singing for years and became comfortable with the idea of becoming a singer. During her decade with Iconofear, she discovered heavy music was something she enjoyed.
In the summer of 2006, she began to search for a band. She chose a metal band because it was closest to her interests. After seeing her application, the guys called her to arrange a demo with her band. Due to her ability to sing and write lyrics, it turned out she was just what they were looking. The band now goes by the name Amberian Dawn.
Dark Sarah has released 3 albums so far, after an initial EP. The first album, Behind the Black Veil, was released in 2014. This was followed by The Puzzle (released 2016), and The Golden Moth (released 2018). The Violent Roses EP was released in 2014.
