Heath Sims, born October 14, 1971, is an American mixed-martial artist, Olympic wrestler, and MMA trainer. He has been a long-time training partner for Dan Henderson. He was also the wrestling instructor for The Ultimate Fighter: United States vs. United Kingdom.
Sims defeated Steve Bruno by decision at Xtreme Pancration 2 in Los Angeles, April 2002. He fought 11 times during his MMA career. This included five fights in Japan for Pancrase. Sims also took on some of the top fighters of that era, such as Koji Oki, Antonio McKee and Satoru Kitaoka. Before retiring in 2006 to concentrate on his coaching obligations, he retired.
Sims was part of Group D at the 2000 Summer Olympics – Men’s Greco Roman 69 kg Wrestling. Sims was also in his group with Ruslan Biktyakov and Katsuhiko Nagata. He finished third in the group, with three classification points as well as two technical points. This makes him 11th overall.

Sim’s father was a freestyle wrestler and participated in the 1972 Olympic trials. Sims started training with the San Clemente Jets as a ninth-grader. This was an amateur wrestling team where children from all over California learned freestyle and Greco Roman techniques. Sims won the state championships in 1989 and 1988, but instead of continuing his freestyle career in college, Sims chose to continue wrestling in the Greco style. In 1989, he was a member of the junior national team and in 1990, he became a member of the world team.
He quit wrestling to work in a computer company. Sims missed the competition, but he began practicing again and finished third at the 1998 U.S. World Team trials. Sims was in Colorado Springs training for the U.S. Olympic Games. In 1999, Sims took his snowboard off a mountainside. He had to be rescued by helicopter. Sims’ kidney and spleen were lacerated, and his kidney was almost severed.
In 2011, he sold his share in Team Quest and moved to Singapore to become the head of the wrestling program at Evolve MMA.
