Harris Pastides, born 1954 in Astoria, Queens (New York), is an academic administrator and university administrator. He was the 28th president of University of South Carolina, from 2008 to 2019. Pastides was also employed at the university and served on the board for Synovus, a financial service company. Pastides announced on October 3, 2018 that he would be retiring from the UofSC presidency. The last day of his term was July 31, 2019.

A report by David Pascoe, the special prosecutor, revealed that Quinn had been used to lobby the legislature. The Quinn firm was also secretly paying South Carolina lawmakers to influence legislation. After a lengthy search for a new UofSC president, Robert L. Caslen, the former Superintendent at West Point was finally selected to succeed Pastides. He took office on August 1, 2019.
