Brase suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in November 2015, just before his senior season. He was unable to participate in the entire 2015-16 season. Brase averaged 6.4 points per game and 2.8 rebounds per contest in his senior season. He transferred to Iowa State because the Ivy League doesn’t allow medical redshirts.
Brase is an international player for Germany. He attended the 2013 under-20 European Championships held in Estonia. He participated in several friendly tournaments in Europe during the summer 2014, culminating in a tournament with six teams in China. After losing to the Kansas Jayhawks in the gold medal match, Brase won silver at 2015 World University Games in South Korea. Brase was the leader in rebounding and scoring, with Kansas losing in double overtime.

Brase was educated at Gaston Day School, Gastonia, North Carolina, and then transferred to Hill School, Pottstown in Pennsylvania, in 2010.
In 2011, he committed to Princeton University and signed with the Tigers for the 2012-13 seasons. He was named Ivy League Rookie-of-the Week for his freshman season. Brase was the sophomore who led the team in rebounding (5.7 rpg) and was second on the team with 11.2 points per contest. Brase was a junior in 2014-15 and led the Tigers’ rebounding team (7.5rpg). He also scored 11.5 points per contest as the second-leading scorer.
In Mai 2018, he signed his first contract as a professional basketball player, inking a deal with Mitteldeutscher BC of the German Basketball Bundesliga. In his first season as professional basketball player, Brase averaged 5.2 points and 3.4 rebounds a game in 23 Bundesliga contests. In June 2019, he signed with fellow Bundesliga side Riesen Ludwigsburg.
