He was born September 15, 1993. He is 6’9″ (205 cm) tall, and plays the forward position.

Brase suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in November 2015, just before his senior season. He was unable to participate in the entire 2015-16 season. In December 2016, he sustained another injury to his right leg, which ended his senior season and his playing career at Princeton. Brase averaged 6.4 points per game and 2.8 rebounds per contest in his senior season. He transferred to Iowa State because the Ivy League doesn’t allow medical redshirts.

Brase is an international player for Germany. He attended the 2013 under-20 European Championships held in Estonia. He participated in several friendly tournaments in Europe during the summer 2014, culminating in a tournament with six teams in China. After losing to the Kansas Jayhawks in the gold medal match, Brase won silver at 2015 World University Games in South Korea. Brase was the leader in rebounding and scoring, with Kansas losing in double overtime.

Brase was educated at Gaston Day School, Gastonia, North Carolina, and then transferred to Hill School, Pottstown in Pennsylvania, in 2010.
