Hanny Saputra is one of the most popular and richest Film Director who was born on May 11, 1965 in Salatiga, Central Java, Indonesia. Saputra was born [[S1965. He enjoyed movies as a child and enrolled at the Jakarta Art Institute in 1985 to learn filmmaking.

Saputra was asked to direct the 2011 religious drama Di Bawah Lindungan Ka’bah. (Under the Protect of Ka’Bah) was based on the novel of Hamka. Makbul Mubarak, of The Jakarta Post, commented that Saputra used a lot of dramatic license when adapting the story. He seemed to have used only the opening and closing lines of the source material. Although the film was submitted by Indonesia to the 84th Academy Awards it didn’t make it onto the final shortlist. Saputra had helmed 10 films as of August 2011.

Saputra was the director of Virgin (2006), which starred Acha Septriasa (Irwansyah) and was followed the next year by Love is Cinta. Saputra directed Septriasa two more times.
