They represented Britain at the 2008 Games in Beijing in their second Paralympics. They finished sixth again. Their second consecutive Paralympics was on home surfing when they won two silver medals at the IFDS World Championships of 2010 and 2011. Stodel and her teammates were disappointed at the London Paralympics. They were deducted four points for cleaning the port side of the keel by a team bosun after being authorized to inspect damage to the craft. This demotion saw the British team fall to fifth place and the bronze medal go to Norway, three points behind them.
After receiving a call from Andy Cassell (a British Paralympic sailor), her sailing career was changed. Stodel was invited to join him for a sailing weekend. He explained that disability sailing is not a lesser type of sailing and that switching from mainstream competitions would give her more opportunities. Cassell won Stodel over and she began to compete in disability events in sonar class. John Robertson and Stephen Thomas, both British sailors, teamed up to win the bronze medal at 2003 IFDS World Disabled Sailing Championships in Athens. They qualified for the first Summer Paralympics the following year, finishing sixth in Sonar.
