Jensen was a representative of People’s Party from 2011 until she and Poul Michelsen founded the political party Progress. Jensen was deputy leader of Progress from 2011 to 2015. She was also vice-member to the parliament for the party from 2011 to 2015, where she sat in parliament several times for Janus Rein and Michelsen.
Jensen was elected for the Løgting at the general election in 2015.
Jensen is the French Consul General to the Faroe Islands depuis 2010.

After graduating from high school, she studied Faroese literature and Faroese language at the University of the Faroe Islands and French literature and language at the University of Copenhagen. She also completed a Cand.mag. degree. Jensen has been teaching since 2005 and is a school counselor at Kambsdalur’s high school (gymnasium). She was previously a teacher at The Technical College in Klaksvik. She also teaches Faroese literature at Foroya Laeraraskuli, Torshavn. She resides in Nordragota.
Jensen began her political career in 2007 with an election to the Gota Municipality local council. She was there for one year, from 1 January 2008 to 31 December 2008. Jensen continued to be a member the newly merged council of Eystur Municipality. This was a merger of Gota and Leirvik. She has been a member of Eystur Municipality since 2009. From 2009 to 2012, she was chairperson of the Culture and Social Committee and chairperson of the Culture committee.
On 24 September 2015 Hanna Jensen along with the independent member of the Løgting Sonja Jógvansdóttir, Social Democratic member Kristianna Winther Poulsen and Republic member Bjørt Samuelsen, submitted a same-sex marriage bill to the Parliament Secretariat. The bill entered Parliament on 17 November
