Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on November 4, 1952 in Warsaw, Masovian Voivodeship, Poland. Hanna Beata Gronkiewicz -Waltz (Polish pronunciation, [‘xannabe’ata gron’kjevidz ‘valts] – born 4 November 1952), is a Polish politician, lawyer, professor of Jurisprudence, and politician who was the Mayor of Warsaw from 2006 to 2018. This is her first female appointment.

GronkiewiczWaltz was caught up in a controversy just weeks into her term. In 2005, a law required Polish mayors to disclose the financial information of their own and their spouses. The law stipulates that the disclosure statement of the successful candidate must be filed within 30 days following the inauguration. However, the statement about the spouse must be filed within 30 days. Gronkiewicz Waltz submitted her and her husband’s disclosure statements 30 days after her inauguration. Dziennik, a newspaper, reported on 20 January that Mr. Waltz had submitted his documents two days after the deadline. In Waltz’s case, it was 28 December 2006. This was the basis for Prime Minister Jaroslawkaczynski, of the ruling Law and Justice (PiS), to maintain that Gronkiewicz–Waltz’s mandate expired on 28 Dec 2006. He also announced that the local election would be held again. GronkiewiczWaltz’s party Civic Platform claimed that the Prime Minister was not authorized to make such a decision and that the case should be referred to court. Polish legal experts claimed that Gronkiewicz and Waltz had complied with the spirit of the law by having submitted their statements the same day. It could also be considered a legal trap to have two deadlines for statements. Civic Platform stated that it would nominate Gronkiewicz–Waltz once again, in case the elections had to be repeated. The controversial law that threatened Gronkiewicz-Waltz and other public officials with losing their jobs due to non-filing of paper work was struck down by the Constitutional Tribunal in Poland on 13 March 2007.

Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz was along with Monika Olejnik, an influential journalist, a murder target of Brunon K., who was arrested in November 2012 in connection with preparation of a terrorist attack on Sejm.

Gronkiewicz–Waltz was the Civic Platform’s candidate for Warsaw mayor in 2006. She finished second to Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz, Law and Justice candidate on 12 November, with 34.23%. GronkiewiczWaltz won the election with 53.18% votes. Neither candidate received 50 percent of the vote.
