Yaso is Ethiopian Jewish. She was born in Sderot and has two siblings and one brother. Yaso’s parents came from Ethiopia through Sudan in the 1980s to Israel. She loved singing from an early age and joined the band “Sderot Youth” in which her sisters also participated. Yaso was a member of a military band during her military service. In the documentary film Sderot, Yaso is seen in the Rock in the Red Zone.

Yaso has performed and toured internationally. She toured the US in January 2013 with Jewish National Fund. Her highlight was her performance at Los Angeles’ Saban Theatre, where she performed “Killing Me Softly” as a duet with Charles Fox.

She participated in the Kokhav Nolad 9 in 2011. Yaso performed Amir Benayoun’s “Omed BaSha’ar”, which she auditioned for (vmd.bSHr). Yaso performed in many languages during the show, including Hebrew and English as well as Moroccan Arabic. Yaso was a standout performer from the start of the show and was frequently rated by judges for her “outstanding performance”. Yaso was among the three finalist, along with David Lavi, Liron Ramati, in Haifa. Yaso’s first song in the finals was Ofra Haaza’s “Mishehu Tamid Holech Iti”(mySHhv.tmyd.hvlKH Ayty), and Idan Raichel’s song “Medabrim Besheket” (mdbrym.bSHkT). Yaso won the first place, with 60% of votes. Yaso won a scholarship worth 240,000 shekels and a contract with Ivri Lider, a well-known music producer.
