Verma joined Patna Science College in 1980 as a lecturer. Verma remained at Patna Science College as a lecturer, and then as a reader for fifteen years. He eventually resigned from the college to join IIT Kanpur.

He was not interested in school, and he struggled to pass exams. He enrolled in Patna Science College after high school. This college transformed him from a bright spark into a bold, confident, and outrageous flame. He was third in Patna Science College’s B.Sc. and then finished second in M.Sc. He is currently a student at IIT Kanpur. He made many important discoveries during his PhD that were crucial for modern physics.
