Pomare enjoyed a long and successful career with the Toreros. He was eventually the school’s leading scorer. He was the San Diego’s first player to be selected to the All-Conference Team for the third time since Scott Thompson (1985-87). He was also the leader of the team to the 2008 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament, where he scored a game record 22 points on 10-12 shooting for the #13 seed Toreros. This upset came over the University of Connecticut.

Pomare was considered a dark horse candidate in the 2009 NBA Draft. However, he was not drafted. The Sendai 89ers, Japan’s top league of Japanese basketball, announced on August 18, 2009 that they had signed Pomare to play in the 2009-10 season.

Pomare is eligible to play in the Panama national basketball team because his father, Leonardo Pomare was born in Panama. He was first a member of the team at the 2009 COCABA Championship. He was also part of the team at the FIBA Americas Championship 2009. He was signed in 2011 by Quilmes De Mar del Plaa in the Torneo National de Ascenso, Argentina.
