Gregory Charles Keagle (born June 28th 1971) is an American former right-handed pitching ace in Major League Baseball (MLB) who was a member of the Detroit Tigers from 1996 to 1998. He was a student at Horseheads High School in Horseheads, New York before attending Florida International University and Monroe Community College.
He played just one game in his career appearance, against Denny Neagle of the Atlanta Braves on September 2, 1997. He hit out. He made zero errors during his entire career, resulting in an unbeatable 1.000 per cent fielding. He played his last big league game on the 26th of May 1998. He wore the number 57 throughout his time with the majors.
He was used mostly as a starter in the final two seasons of his career, 1997 and 1998. He went three and eight combined in those final two years, posting a career best ERA of 5.59 in 1998. He did not average five innings a start in his final two seasons.
Although his major league career ended in 1998, his professional career lasted until 2005. He stayed in the Tigers’ organization in 1999, split time between the Anaheim Angels organization and the Elmira Pioneers in 2000, where he threw the first no-hitter in Pioneers history (and just one of three in Northeast League history). In 2001 and 2002, Keagle was a pitcher/coach for the Pioneers. He played in the Florida Marlins organization in all of 2003.
Keagle is on the Tigers’ Opening Day roster in 1996. He began his career in the opening game on the 1st of April. Keagle pitched for three innings of his debut big league game, allowing three hits as well as walking two while knocking out two. He gave up only one run earned. The first victim of his career is Chuck Knoblauch. He later hit Rich Becker, who followed Knoblauch in the batsman’s order.

Keagle was picked at the end of the sixth selection, 170th in overall from the 1993 Major League Baseball Draft by the San Diego Padres. Keagle was primarily used as an infielder for the minors and appeared in just one game as relief prior to his first trip into the Major Leagues. The first season he played professionally with the Northwest League with the Spokane Indians was a promising one (3-3 score, 3.25 ERA), however the first half of 1994 was simply outstanding. He went 11-1 and an 2.05 ERA in 14 games for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and was included on the California League All-Star team. But, his performance did not last long when he was promoted to Double-A Wichita Wranglers, where he was 3-9 and an 6.27 ERA.
