Hardie was the captain of Hardie’s Scottish team in the 2017 World Mixed Curling Championship. Hardie led his team comprised of Rhiann Macleod Billy Morton and Barbara McFarlane to a 6-1-0 record following an initial group phase. The team was able to win four consecutive playoff games en way to winning the gold medal. They defeated Canada during the championship.
Before joining the Mouat rink Hardie had success in his own way as the skip. He and his teammates Blair Fraser, Dave Reid and Duncan Menzies won the 2017 Aberdeen International Curling Championship, Hardie’s first World Curling Tour win. The win earned the team a spot for the season-ending Champions Cup, his first Grand Slam event. The team was unbeaten, finishing to 0-4. Following the campaign, Hardie joined forces with Bruce Mouat, the Bruce Mouat, the World Junior champion skip, Bruce Mouat.

While at his time at the University of Strathclyde (where he was studying the course in civil engineering), Hardie played third for the British team in the Winter Universiade, which was skippered by Kyle Smith. The team went on to take home Bronze medals.
The new rink at Mouat found rapid success at the World Curling Tour, winning the Stu Sells Oakville Tankard and Oakville OCT Fall Classic tour events in the first week of the season. In their first slam together and at the 2017 Boost National, the team would take home the entire event making them the very first Scottish team to take home the Grand Slam title. On the tour that season the team won two championships: the Dumfries Challenger Series as well as The Aberdeen International Curling Championship. The team was less successful when they played the second slam that they took part in at the 2018. Meridian Canadian Open, failing to reach the playoffs. In the following season, the team took home their first Scottish Men’s Curling Championship, and beat those from the British Olympic team (skipped by Kyle Smith) in a match to qualify to represent Scotland in the 2018 World Men’s Curling Championship.
