Grace Momanyi is one of the most popular and richest Athletics Competitor who was born on March 13, 1981 in Nyanza Province, Kenya. Grace Kwamboka Momanyi (born 5 September 1983) is a Kenyan long distance runner belonging to the Kisii tribe.

In the following year, she had the chance to represent Kenya at the international level by running in the 10,000 m race at the 2010 World Championships in Athletics. Momanyi placed fourth in a close race and ran an individual record of 30:52.25. She was Kenya’s second best athlete in the race, coming second to race winner Linet Masai, but she managed to finish ahead of Meseret Defar one of the race’s favorite runners before the race. Momanyi took both the 2009 and 2010 editions the Wurzburger Residenzlauf 10km race. She was back in her first race, the Bangalore 10K in May of 2010 however, she was unable to repeat her win from 2009 and placed third.

She claimed fourth place at the World’s Best 10K in February 2011, but reached the podium at the Lisbon Half Marathon the following month by taking third in a personal best of 1:08:41. In 2008, at the World Cross Country Championships she was tenth in her individual race, but it was not enough to make her member of the Kenyan team, which received silver medals in the team race. The 2008 African Championships in Athletics she was third in the 5000m race. She was named one of two winners of the first World 10K Bangalore race, which she completed with the identical speed (32:02) that she did as Elvan Abeylegesse.

She took to the track for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and emerged as the 10,000 m Commonwealth champion, succeeding her compatriot Lucy Kabuu. Back on the road, she ran in the Great South Run in October and topped the podium. She saw her performance in the ten-mile race as a stepping-stone to a future in road events: “This was a good result and very important as eventually I will be moving to the marathon”.
