Glynis Leanne Nunn-Cearns (nee Saunders, formerly Nunn), OAM (born 4 December 1960) is an former Australian Heptathlete and one of the first Olympic champion in the sport. She was born at Toowoomba, Queensland, she started competing in athletics at the age of 9 when she was an athlete in the Toowoomba South State High School.
The year 1985 was the one when Nunn got an award of the Medal of the Order of Australia and was also inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame. She was awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000.
In the wake of 1984’s Summer Olympics boycott, Nunn was among the candidates to win the Olympic title also. The contest was extremely close and five athletes fought for medals. Following the event there was a bit of confusion over who won, however, once the smoke cleared Nunn had received 6390 points. Five points more than the runner-up, Jackie Joyner-Kersee. Alongside the gold award, Nunn was also placed fifth in the 100m hurdles as well as seventh for the long leap.

She was a star in a variety of competitions, making her an ideal competitor for the pentathlon (which was replaced with the pentathlon at the time of 1981). She was selected for participation in the Commonwealth Games, but could be unable to compete due to an injury.
In the 1982 Commonwealth Games held in Brisbane the couple had already married decathlete Chris Nunn at the time, and later that year, they moved into Adelaide within South Australia where Chris was studying for a degree in physical education within the South Australian College of Advanced Education. In the very first heptathlon race during the Games she beat the English popular and took the win. In the first World Championships a year later she placed 7th.
After the Olympics, Nunn abandoned the heptathlon, and switched to hurdling. She was hampered by many injuries, but managed to win a bronze medal in the high hurdles event at the 1986 Commonwealth Games. She quit sports in 1990.
