The year was 1982 and she got chosen to represent Greece in the Europalia 1982 festival in Brussels along as Sotiria Bellou George Dalaras and Margarita Zorbala. In the year following, Glykeria released her first live show “Omorfi Nyhta” and due to the huge success, Lyra made her debut live CD “me ti Glykeria Stin Omorfi Nyhta” that was able to smash all sales records in music in Greece at the time.

Also in 2006 during the Israel–Lebanon conflict she came to Israel with her son and met Ehud Olmert and sang for the soldiers at the borders.

In the middle of the 1990s Glykeria made her debut solo record “Ta Smyrneika”, the compilation album featuring classic songs of Smyrna. In the years following, Glykeria was a regular at well-known clubs and bouzoukias, growing in popularity and a large number of fans, as well as working with other famous artists, such as George Dalaras. In the same year, Glykeria released her first album “Sta Matia Koita Me” that was written entirely by Stelios Fotiadis. It began their ongoing collaboration.
