Giorgos Alkaios is one of the most popular and richest Singer who was born on December 24, 1971 in Athens, Attica, Greece. Giorgos Alkaios (Greek: Giorgos Alkaios; born 24 December 1971 in Athens) is a Greek recording artist. His career started in 1989 when he appeared on the Greek reality television show. Following a brief stint of performing on stage, Alkaios dedicated himself to music. The first single he released, “Ti Ti”, was a hit in Greece. His distinctive style of music combines Greek as well as Oriental elements with contemporary pop music. He has so far been awarded 9 gold and 5 platinum albums. Alkaios has represented Greece at his participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song “OPA”, and placed 8th in the final.

Then, in 1993 debuted his second album, titled Ax! Koita Me (Oh! Take a look at me) Then came Den Peirazei (It isn’t a problem). In 1995, he released “Anef Logou” which went Gold. It was later followed by Entos Eaftou and later En Psihro which both were platinum.

In 2000, he released Pro Ton Pilon followed by Oxigono on 2001 which both went gold. A CD Single titled “Karma” was released in 2002.

In 2002, he wrote the hit single “Pame Ela” for Pamela.

The year was 1992. Alkaios recorded his debut record, Me Ligo…Trak. The album’s music was composed by Alkaios as well as lyrics solely composed by Evi Droutsa, who completed the album’s production, which Vangelis had started with. The song “Ti Ti” (a cover of Khaled’s Arabic smash hit “Didi”), and that translates to “What ? What?” was a huge hit in Greece and was among the very first Greek songs to blend Oriental sounds and Western music, noting the same path that Christos Dantis’ “Aman” had traced prior to it, thus in establishing Greek modern standards in music at the time.

Alkaios first TV appearance was in September 1989, at 17 years old, as part of one of the first reality television shows on television in Greece, “Ela Sto Fos” (Come to the light) that aired which aired on ET 2. It featured 1500 fresh performers, singers and dancers. The numbers were later reduced to just twenty people, including Alkaios as one of the 20. While appearing on this show, he was studying the art of dance under Daniel Lomel, acting with Niki Triantafilidou and studying musically with Giorgos Hatzinasios among others.

In the summer of that same year, Alkaios decided to change his focus from acting to music. He was later presented by fellow performer Christos Dantis BMG A&R Director, Vangelis Yonalopoulos, who was recording his debut album with BMG, “Aman”. Vangelis Yannopoulos was a guest on Alkaios (who at the time, still wore his name Vassileiou) and then decided to join the company that produces records. Together, they discovered Alkaios his future “sound” and “style”. In the summer of 1991, Alkaios performed on tours across Greece together with fellow Christos Dantis. In September of the similar year Alkaios took part in the Thessaloniki Song Contest with the song “Den Me Theleis Tolmiro” which was the first time he had officially decided to use his name “Giorgos Alkaios” as opposed to his birth name, which was his name up to this point. Alkaios was able to beat then newcomer Sakis Rouvas and took home the prize to be the “Best Vocals” by one point.

In 1998, Alkaios signed with Sony Music Greece, and create with producer Gavrilis Pantzis, the “DNA” label, distributed by Sony Music. Elli Kokkinou’s first ever single and album was released by DNA label and produced by Gavrilis Pantzis, with a little help from Alkaios. Shortly after he released the album Ixoi Siopis which featured a completely new look for Alkaios, while the album art work shocked many. The album went gold in less than 24 hours and later Platinum. Sirmatoplegma followed in 1999, which also went gold in less than 24 hours and later platinum. Turkish football team Galatasaray selected the single “Sirmatoplegma” as an anthem.
