She was awarded the silver medal in women’s scratch in the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Bordeaux, France, and later represented her country Canada in the 2008 Summer Olympics. Prior to retiring, she focused on her life as a woman and her Kinesiology studies, and in the year the year 2010, Grain raced with a wide variety of U.S. and Canadian road racing teams, as well as her brief stint with Hong Kong-based Giant Pro Cycling in 2006.
In 2007 Grain was granted a licence from the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) for the Canadian women’s professional cycling team, who race under the Expresscopy.com banner. She concluded another excellent season by winning her first-ever and only road race title for women’s elite in the Canadian Championships in Saint-Georges, Quebec. At the close of the 2007’s season Grain was joined by her fellow teammates Erinne Willock Alex Wrubleski, and 2004 U.S. Olympian Christine Thorburn as part of the official roster of the Webcor Builders Cycling Team. The team was in July of 2008 when Grain was thrilled to the finish in a sprint by winning her third victory in the Tour de Gastown in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Upon returning to Webcor Builders Cycling Team for another season in 2009, Grain started her stint by edging out New Zealand rider and 2008 Olympian Catherine Cheatley on a blazing sprint road race to score a second stage triumph at the Tour of the Gila in southwestern United States.
The beginning in the season of 2006 Grain returned to professional cycling after she signed an exclusive deal to the Hong Kong-based Giant Pro Cycling. She concluded her successful year with a bronze medal for the ladies’ elite 8-kilometer scratch race in the UCI World Championships in Bordeaux, France, and mounted the top four finishes in both the points race and road race in the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia and climbed to the top ten positions within the UCI world rankings. At the top of her athletic career, Grain burst again into the world of road cycling when she defended the Tour de Gastown title on the same day, with the first time in 2005.

Grain began professionally cycling in the mountain biking fitness program for the British Columbia Provincial Team. She quickly began to doing well and eventually was invited to be part of the 800.com professional teams of cycling in 2001, following her brief time in Atlanta Velo and Victory Brewing for the following two seasons. Grain enjoyed her first professional victory at the Grand Montreal Cycling Tour (French: Le Tour du Grand Montreal) at which point she was awarded her first stage win.
In 2004 Grain became one of the most skilled road sprinters. He consistently won podiums as well as a handful of victories to win the U.S. Pro Tour Championships titles and other cycling events. Shortly after the Olympics, Grain was stunned in a major upset from her inexperienced rival Tara Whitten by taking home the silver in the women’s points race at the Canadian Track Cycling Championships in Burnaby, British Columbia.
