Giancarlo Golzi is one of the most popular and richest Drummer who was born on February 10, 1952 in Sanremo, Liguria, Italy. Giancarlo Golzi (February 10 1952 – – August 12 Giancarlo Golzi (February 10, 1952 – August 12, 2015) was an Italian musician and drummer, an original member of the Genoan group Matia Bazar.
In addition to his collaboration with Matia Bazar In 1999, Golzi returned to his work with newly-formed Museo Rosenbach, releasing two additional albums: Exit (2000) as well as Barbarica (2013).
On August 8, 2015, while on a tour with Matia Bazar to celebrate the band’s 40th anniversary, Golzi performed for the last time at the Outlet Village Cilento in Eboli. On the night of August 12–13, he died of a heart attack in his home in Bordighera, aged 63.
Following Golzi’s unexpected death, Matia Bazar temporarily disbanded, coming back with a new lineup in 2017.

The year 1971 saw La Quinta Strada merged with Il Sistema into the progressive rock group Museo Rosenbach, whose first album Zarathustra (1973) was, though popular with fans, did not sell well because of the controversy surrounding its pro-Fascist allegedly racist lyrics.
In 1975, Golzi joined the forces of Genoan group JET as well as singer Antonella Ruggiero to form the formation of a new group: Matia Bazar. In his 40-year journey with the group, Golzi did not just play the role of drummer and songwriter, but also wrote lyrics for the band’s hit songs, most notably Vacanze romane which won their band their Critics Award at the Sanremo Music Festival 1983.
In 2003 he was awarded the Lamezia Terme Prize for his text adaptation for the Italian-French musical Les Dix Commandements, by Elie Chouraqui.
