Geron Marquis Johnson (born on August 9 1993) was an American professional basketball player who plays for the Al Rayyan SC of the Qatari Basketball League. He played for two years of college basketball at the University of Memphis after playing at two community colleges.

On April 14 in 2012 Johnson has signed an National Letter of Intent to play basketball in the NCAA tournament at the University of Memphis. Head coach Josh Pastner recruited Johnson as an alternative to Will Barton after it became evident that Barton had decided to leave the team early to enter the ranks of professional. Johnson was regarded as one of the top Junior college athletes in the United States however, he was a risky candidate due to his record of criminality. In the end, Pastner established a distinctive midnight curfew , as well as routine academic surveillance.

In 33 games for the Vipers in 2014–15, he averaged 5.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.

In his final year, Johnson was suspended for three games by the NCAA for receiving unconstitutional benefits. While a junior player at Memphis during 2012-13 Johnson was active in 33 matches, and made 26 starts and averaged 10.4 per game, 4.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. He was then named to the third team of All-Conference USA and NABC Division I All-District 11 Second Team distinctions. He scored an all-time high of 21 points in a win of 84-58 against Ohio. In the team’s defeat in the third round to Michigan State in the third round of the NCAA Tournament, Johnson had the team’s highest score of 16 points. Outside of the court, Johnson volunteered in the community by reading to the children. He was also praised for his academic achievements. He was among 19 players who were invited to the Kevin Durant Training Academy in the summer following his senior year.

On February 22, 2012, he was expelled from the college after being arrested for theft and criminal trespassing. “After Garden City, I thought I wasn’t going to have an opportunity to bounce another basketball collegiately,” Johnson said. “That frustrated me mentally and I’m glad God has given me the opportunity to make a way and keep striving at my goals, my dreams, and my aspirations.”
