in 2003 Burns received the inaugural recipient of the Not The Turner Prize for his oil-on-canvas figurative painting, Labyrinth. The artwork A New Journey appeared on the First Minister’s Christmas Card in 2009 and included Burns niece, holding the saltire. In 2014 his 14 for 14 show was unveiled at the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. His painting “The Rowan” was displayed in front of Alex Salmonds desk in the Scottish Parliament throughout his tenure in the position of First Minister.
