Geovana De Cassia Peres (born 8 February 1977) is a Brazilian born New Zealand professional boxer who became the first female light heavyweight champion following her win of the WBO female title in the year 2019.
In March of 2017 it was announced Geovana Peres would be taking off the top spot of the world of boxing Nailini Helu to take an unclaimed NZNBF New Zealand light heavyweight title. Helu was quickly promoted to the top ranks in 2016, finishing 8th place in the world heavyweight rankings. However, after a decision was changed to a draw in September 2016 , and getting a huge protest from fans of boxing, Helu went down hill. Nailini Helu fought Alrie Meleisea twice before losing in a split decision. Helu was awarded a second New Zealand title chance but this time it was against Geovana Peres. Peres was just coming off a professional defeat herself, and she needed to prove herself with something to demonstrate. Geovana Peres took the fight with a unanimous decision and won 7 of the eight rounds. She became the first Brazilian and the first LGBT person to be awarded the New Zealand Professional boxing title.
In July 2018, Geovana Peres became a New Zealand citizen.
On 17 December 2018, it was announced that Peres will be going against Lani Daniels in a rematch for the WBO World Light Heavyweight title. The event took place on 30 March 2018 in Auckland New Zealand. Geovana Peres won the inuguarl WBO world title by unanimous decision in front of a sold-out crowd. Shortly after the fight, Geovana Peres signed a three-fight deal with Rival Sports Promotion NZ, which is managed by Bruce Glozier and Steve Deane.
In July of 2017, Geovana Peres took on Tessa Tualevao. Tualevao was only 18years old, however despite her young age she was a huge kickboxing event. Geovana entered the fight for a fight that was kept busy and demonstrated her knowledge and expertise against Tessa. Peres proved too strong for Tualevao in the second round as Peres took her down during the 2nd round. Peres took the victory in a Unanimous Decision.

Sarah Long made a come back by defeating Tash Pakai. It was a close fight between Geovana Peres and Sarah Long, however Long experience gave her the advantage helping her take home the win by Unanimous decision. Long went on to reaching top 10 in the world then challenger for the NZPBA Heavyweight title, but for Geovana Peres it was back to the drawing board.
