George Lamond (born George Garcia on February 25, 1967, in Washington, D.C., United States), sometimes called George LaMond, is an American freestyle and salsa music performer.
It was 1992 when “In My Life” Lamond’s second album was released. It was bolstered by the single that was the album’s lead track, “Where Does That Leave Love” that quickly reached the top of the charts. The album featured a great mix of pop and freestyle as well as a few ballads that were all designed to build his profile in the mainstream music scene. However, the national pop music scene at the time, was experiencing major changes, and was gaining an aforementioned R&B influence. The album’s final song, “I Want You Back” was released (Spring 1993) which was a re-imagining to that Jackson 5 classic, with backing vocals by an then undiscovered Marc Anthony, Lamond would later be removed out of Columbia Records.
Also in 1999, The Hits and More, Lamond’s fifth album was released on Robbins Entertainment, containing a collection of his former Anglo hits along with new material. The album included a special appearance by K7 as well as freestyle producer, Carlos “After Dark” Berrios, along with Lamond’s long-time producer, Chris Barbosa.
As the Latin music business, in particular, began to recover in the mid-2000s, largely due to the rise of reggaeton, Lamond released his seventh studio album, Oye Mi Canto, in 2006 on Sony International.
Tours on the road never stopped until the latter part of the 1990s. In 1998, Timber! as well as Tommy Boy records re-released “Without you” 1998 with a variety of remixes made by Willie Valentin (Valentin Bass mix and radio mix ), the slammin Sam Maxion, Sal Dano, Roc & Presta and JJ Flores (Cat # trcd772) In 1999, when prominent Latin music stars like Ricky Martin and Marc Anthony made crossovers that worked for popular music from the Anglo music scene, Lamond did just the opposite, going back to his roots and recording dance music that was Spanish. The album he released in his fourth studio, Entrega (Prestigio/Sony Discos) was certified gold by the RIAA. The album was further bolstered by the breakout song that was the album’s lead track “Que Te Vas” that peaked at number 23 on the Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart and 6 on the Latin Tropical/Salsa airplay chart.
