Gary Zauner is one of the most popular and richest Athlete who was born on November 2, 1950 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. Gary Zauner (born November 2 1950) is an American football coach who has most recently was the coordinator of special teams of the California Redwoods of the United Football League.

As of 1990, Zauner was recruited by George Allen to coach at Long Beach State for two seasons (1990-91).

Zauner was a four-year letterman in football and baseball at University of Wisconsin–La Crosse (1968–72). He went to training camp as a punter with the Minnesota Vikings in 1973 and the Houston Oilers in 1974.

Previously, he had coached 13 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the Minnesota Vikings, Baltimore Ravens and Arizona Cardinals. He has coached kickers for over 35 years in high school, college and the NFL. Further, he was a successful college kicker playing for the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse.

Zauner played the next three years (1987-89) in the University of New Mexico where the coach was the former NFL wide receiver Terance Mathis, who set the NCAA record in the season (1989) with three touchdowns when returning kickoffs.

Zauner started the coaching profession in 1979, with Brigham Young University under Head Coach LaVell Edwards. Zauner became the first full-time special team trainer in the NCAA. At BYU He enlisted the services of a kicker/punter Lee Johnson, a future fifth-round draft pick for the Houston Oilers in 1985.

Then, he became the coach of Special teams for San Diego State for five seasons (1981-85) making his Aztecs to one of the top special teams teams in the United States. While at SDSU the coach helped attract current Redwoods as defensive assistant coaches. He also helped recruit long-time NFL Safety Robert Griffith.

Zauner attended Hamilton High School. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physical education from University of Wisconsin–La Crosse.
