He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, in 2006 in recognition of his contributions made in the field of spiritual formation.
In 2003, Authentic Faith won the Gold Medallion Award in the “Christian Living” category.
A native of Puyallup, Washington, he later settled in Texas with his wife Lisa and the couple’s three children.
