Gao Lin (Chinese: Gao Lin pinyin name: Gao Lin ; born 14 February, 1986) is an Chinese footballer who is currently playing in the Chinese league for Shenzhen F.C. within Shenzhen F.C.’s China League One. He is the top goal scorer for the club, scoring scores of 113 and has had the most appearances in the team’s history. He is considered to be one of the most technically skilled strikers in China and is known as the name Gaolinsmann (Chinese: Gao Lin Si Man; pinyin: Gaolinsiman ; Mandarin pronunciation: [kau Lin Si Man[kau lin si man] ).

Gao scored in a 3-0 win against South Korea during the 2010 East Asian Football Championship, helping China beat South Korea for the first time ever. Gao captained the national team for the first time on 22 February 2012 in a 2-0 win against Kuwait. On 10 September 2018, Gao won his 100th cap for China in a 0–0 draw against Bahrain, making him the fifth Chinese man to win 100 caps.
Gao was one of the players in 2008’s Summer Olympics where he took part throughout all the group matches and was a starter in the first two games when players of the Chinese National team under 23 was eliminated in the group stage.

Gao had his first appearance with China’s national team Chinese National team in a friendly match in the match against South Korea on 31 July 2005 at the 2005 East Asian Football Championship where Gao was sent off in error by the referee Yuichi Nishimura. The East Asian Football Federation cancelled Gao’s red card , and then apologized to him on the next day. Following that sour beginning to his international career, Gao started to impose himself into the team and even though he made his debut in the year 2005 for National Team, Gao had to wait until the 21st of January 2009 to score his debut goal in a 6-1 victory against Vietnam in 2011. Gao Lin started his football career with Shanghai Shenhua in 2005 where Gao made his league debut on the 21st of August, 2005, in a 1-0 victory over Liaoning Zhongyu, coming on as an in-place substitute for Xie Hui. Although his size and ability were immediately utilized, Gao was unable to establish himself as a first team regular in the team over the next seasons and often ended up in the flanks. It wasn’t until Xie quit Shanghai at the conclusion in the league season that Gao began to become a first-team player, playing as a striker again. In 2008 Gao scored eight goals in his 21 league games, helping in guiding Shanghai to a second-place finish.
On 10 March 2010, Gao transferred to Guangzhou Evergrande, who were newly relegated to China League One in the fallout of a match-fixing scandal. However, the club’s new owners, Evergrande Real Estate Group, were able to tempt Gao with a lucrative 3,000,000 yuan a year deal to play within the second tier. He made his debut for the club on 3 April 2010 in a 3-1 against Beijing BIT, also scoring his first two goals for the club. On 30 October 2010, Guangzhou successfully finished as second tier champions for the second time with a 3-1 win against Hunan Billows. Gao’s first half hat-trick in this match ensured that he finished the season as the second tier top goalscorer, having scored 20 goals.
