Gajendra Pal Singh Raghava is one of the most popular and richest Biologist who was born on May 25, 1963 in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, India. Raghava was born into the the village of Nagla Karan, Bulandshahr district (UP), India in 1963. He attended his primary school in his home town of Bulandshahr and then his post-graduation at Meerut, UP in 1984. After finishing his M.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, he joined Institute of Microbial Technology as a computer scientist. In the institute, he continued working on various projects, and was the director of Bioinformatics Center in the year 1994. In 1996, he was awarded his doctorate in bioinformatics in the Institute of Microbial Technology and Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Raghava was awarded Raghava was awarded the Young Leader Award in Science & Technology, Lakshmipat Singhania – Indian Institute of Management Lucknow National Leadership awards 2011 He was named one of the eight most cited Indians scientist according to Thomson Reuters in 2014. He was awarded the NASI-Reliance Industries Platinum Jubilee Awards, 2009 in Biological Sciences Thomson Reuters presented Raghava with Research Excellence in the form of India Research Front Awards 2009. He was awarded the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award for Science and Technology for 2008.

Raghava invented a method for measuring the concentrations of antigens and antibodies using ELISA data. He also developed has developed a method to predict secondary structure prediction of proteins. In 1999, he founded an research lab at IMTECH with a focus on the prediction of protein structure and genome annotation. In 2001, his research group also concentrated upon “Computer aided vaccine design” with an emphasis on subunit-based vaccine design. Since 2006, his team is working to integrate bioinformatics and chemoinformatics with pharmaco-in and clinical informatics to build a platform for the design of drugs in the laboratory.
