Gail Simone was born and was raised in Oregon. A former hairdresser who been a theater student in college, Simone first came to public attention via women in refrigerators which was a website established in the year 1999 by a tiny group of comics lovers which included Simone who was in the wake of the scene from Green Lantern #54, in the story, the protagonist’s partner, Alexandra DeWitt, was murdered , and her body was thrown into a fridge to be found by the hero. The website was devoted to finding female superheroes that had been murdered, raped, or had suffered traumatizing indignities to be used as a plot device the male protagonist. The site put her in contacts with numerous people in the world of comics. The column you’ll all be SORRY! was published weekly in the weekly edition of Comic Book Resources. The topics varied from short humorous summaries on comic books (“Condensed Comic Classics”) to fan-fiction parodies.

In August 2007 Simone developed and produced an episode for GameTap’s Revisioned: Tomb Raider, named “Pre-Teen Raider”.
