Dr. Lettini is professor of theological ethics at the Graduate Theological Union and is Dean of the Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, California. She is president of the American Waldensian Society and a member of the North Atlantic section of the European Society of Women in Theological Research.
In 2017, she agreed to make space available in the Starr King School for the Ministry for the female-only church Qalbu Maryam (the heart of Mary) at the request by the mosque’s founder Rabia Keeble who was a 2012 graduate of the school.
In the month of January, 2011 Lettini organised at Rome an international inter-disciplinary course on theology of ecumenical unity. In bringing together all of her institution affiliations, she designed the course a collaboration project from Waldensian Theological Seminary, Starr King School for the Ministry, Union Theological Seminary in New York, Union Presbyterian Seminary and the American Waldensian Society. In an interview in 2017, Lettini stated that she would prefer it if theology in academia could evolve more organically in the form of community theology with an actual dialogue between religious and theologians. She believes that the current dialogue with Protestants as well as Catholics is a positive thing but, while pointing out the past of Christian involvement in the worst crimes of the world She believes that their different theological beliefs less significant in the sense of “to offer a corrective to these aberrations of the Christian faith.”
