He is the six-time world champion, an official World Grand Master of the World Bridge Federation After Pedro (WBF) and also the WBF top-ranked player at the time of December 31, 2011. He is one of the 10 players who have been awarded this Triple Crown of Bridge.
Since 2011, Fantoni and Nunes are permanent members of a team that is led by and paid by Swiss real estate billionaire Pierre Zimmermann, under contract that expires in 2016. In 2012, all six players are citizens in Monaco as the group will take on the role of representing Monaco internationally. The team came in third place at the 2010 world championships and was not yet full-time and participated during the European Bridge League open championship (neither is a national team event). The team in 2012 was crowned their first European Team Championship and got second place in 2014 edition. The team also finished second in the Bermuda Bowl 2013 in Bali.
The players’ appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport resulted in a judgement in their favour in January 2018.
