After joining Liga Veneta-Lega Nord in the early 1990s Rocon won a seat on be a member of the Regional Council of Veneto at the regional election of 1995.

In October 1998, Roccon quit Liga Veneta-Lega Nord and became an original participant in Liga Veneta Repubblica (LVR) together with Fabrizio Comencini and four other regional councillors. At the 2000 regional elections, LVR did not field lists in Belluno, the province in which Roccon was a member. Belluno and, consequently it was not possible to elect Roccon.
In May 2003, Roccon was elected as mayor in the city of Castellavazzo (Belluno) by a majority of 51.4 percent of the vote. In April 2008, he won elected again by a landslide, with 62.7 percent of the vote. Following his membership in The People of Freedom, He was president of BIM-GPS, the public utility of the province until November 11, 2011. While he was BIM-GPS’s president, BIM-GPS He was frequently criticized by former members of the League and, in particular, by Gianpaolo Bottacin who was the president of the Province.
In March 2019 Roccon represented the LVR at the European Free Alliance’s general assembly, during which a motion on Venetian autonomy was approved.
