The following year was a year that saw Colomba performing his 3rd return at Reggina and he gets dismissed after the 11th matchday and is replaced with Giancarlo Camolese. The 2004-05 season kicked off with Colomba in charge of newly-promoted Serie A side Livorno, but it abruptly ended in January when the club was disbanded and was replaced with Roberto Donadoni. In October 2005 the Serie B team at risk of losing its place, Avellino, called him to take over Francesco Oddo; however, Avellino eventually lost its spot to Serie B following two play-off games lost to AlbinoLeffe.
