Francisco Marinho Robby Elson (born on February 28, 1976, in Rotterdam) is a Dutch professional basketball player who retired. Elson was seventh Dutch player to be a part of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Elson was the head for the Netherlands national basketball team for international basketball. He was the team’s leader in numerous EuroBasket qualifiers. Elson was the first Dutch player to be an NBA champion, playing for his team the San Antonio Spurs in 2007.

In July 2006, Elson signed a two-year, contract worth $6 million to the San Antonio Spurs. Elson was the first player to win an NBA Championship in 2007 after the Spurs beat over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

On September 15, 2010, Elson signed a guaranteed two-year contract with the Utah Jazz. After his contract expired, he returned to the Netherlands for treatment on his knee.

On February 18, 2010, Elson was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers along with sharpshooter Jodie Meeks in exchange for Primoz Brezec and Royal Ivey.

In his first two seasons during his time with Denver the Nuggets, he was averaging 3.6 scores and 3.1 rebound per game. In 2005-06, his 3rd campaign as a member of the Nuggets, Elson played in 72 games, beginning with 54 games. Elson averaged 21.9 minutes. He also scored 4.9 scores (on 53.2 percentage shooting) and 4.7 rebound per game.

Elson was a part of the Dutch National Under-20 Team. He spent 2 seasons with Kilgore Junior College in Texas before attending Berkeley, the University of California, Berkeley. As an undergraduate, he was able to take his team of Bears into victory in the NIT Championship. Elson was selected during the 2nd round of 1999’s NBA Draft from Cal by the Denver Nuggets, but did not start playing for the team until the 2003-04 season. Elson played for four seasons in Spain:

On February 21, 2008, Elson was traded by the San Antonio Spurs along with Brent Barry to the Sonics in exchange for Kurt Thomas.
