Fong Po Kuan (simplified Chinese: Feng Bao Jun ; traditional Chinese: Feng Bao Jun pinyin: Feng Baojun ; Jyutping Fung1: Fung1 Po3 Kun4 ; born on September 15, 1973) is a Malaysian politician belonging to the Democratic Action Party (DAP) political party. She can speak with her family and friends in Chinese, English, and Malay. She did her STPM in Anglo Chinese School, Ipoh in 1992. Then she went to at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) from 1993 until 1997. She then graduated with a the degree of a lawyer.

Fong 34, wed Johor DAP organising secretary Tan Chen Choon 37, on January 12, 2008 and later. The couple held a private wedding ceremony, which was conducted by The Ipoh-Chin Woo Association’s assistant registerar Datuk Ooi Foh Sing. Tan’s husband Tan then became Johor State Assemblyman in Jementah between 2013 and in the 2018 general elections. He was also appointed to Johor’s EXCO in the year 2019.

In the general election of 1999, Fong won the Batu Gajah seat within the Dewan Rakyat, and became the youngest Member of Parliament (MP) in Malaysia. She got 19,867 votes out of 38,774 votes. Fong was elected by a margin of 2,071 and 67.5 percent of the vote. In her first term, she was banned for six months from the House with no allowances or wages because she had criticized speaker of the House. The suspension was unique in that the Speaker removed the notice period of seven days that was required to bring the issue to the Speaker’s attention in the first place, and it did not get to the Parliamentary Committee of Privileges. The 83 MPs, who were all of the Speaker’s own party who voted in favor of suspension made up 43% of parliament. Although it was a majority of the people in the room, it was not a majority of the MPs present. It was viewed as a vindictive act.

in 2003 Fong was in the House of Representatives and asked the reason she was forced to wear a tudung dress to her graduation ceremony at IIUM. The Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mahadzir Mohammad Khir, said that wearing the tudung was not compulsory, but encouraged. The following year The IIUM Senate made it compulsory for female students to wear Tudung to the ceremony of their graduation.

Fong initially decided not to defend her seat in the 2008 general election. After DAP leaders asked her to reconsider, she finally agreed to run for re- election, retaining her Batu Gajah parliamentary seat for the third term with a majority of 24,627.
