Florent Brard is one of the most popular and richest Sport Cyclist who was born on February 7, 1976 in Chambray-lès-Tours, Centre-Val de Loire, France. Florent Brard (born 7 February 1976 in the town of Chambray-les- Tours in France) has retired as a French road cycling racer. He has won three national championships and the road race for professionals. He made the transition to professional racing in 1999. He was unable to race in November 2009, after he was unable to find an opportunity to join a team.
He joined Credit Agricole for 2002, earning 30500 euros per year, however, he was dismissed following a poor start to the season and was then unable to make the middle of the season due to an injury to his vertebrae that caused him to break them eventually being caught in a drug test (see below. Then he was sacked. Only the tiny Marlux team located in Belgium provided him with a spot for 2003. He explained: “When I signed for them I wasn’t at all happy because, when you come from big teams like Festina and Credit d’Agricole, which have a prominent image, it’s strange, I had the impression of going backwards in my career. I went there on tiptoe, not knowing what I was going to find, and then I felt fine.”
In 2005, with Agritubel, he won Paris–Troyes, the Trophée Luc Leblanc and a stage at the Circuit de la Sarthe.
Brard is married to Nathalie, with whom he has two daughters. In 2006 they moved to Serres-Castet, near the Pyrenees, to profit from better weather for training than in the Loire valley around Tours and to improve his riding in the mountains.
Brard has shown from the time of his birth that he was a natural for long, solo efforts as well as riding a big gear for long durations. He stated: “I’ve ridden a lot on the track during the course of my career. The pursuit is an excellent school for progressing on the road. So I’m a fairly good rouleur and that’s therefore the talent that I try to exploit to make an impression.” This led to his first victory as professional. It was the final race of Etoile de Besseges on 11 February 2001. He took the win on his own after being part of an unbreakable group, which was close to being separated from an entire field of 120km. He added: “It would have been just too stupid to miss the chance a kilometre from the finish. My legs hurt, I was cooked, but I gritted my teeth and threw my last force into the battle.” He was the winner of his national championship in time trials later that same year. He also took a stage and commanded in the Tour de l’Avenir. He also won Paris Bourges and the GP-Cholet Pays de la Loire.
