A specialist in doubles At various times, Limpele is focusing on mixed doubles or men’s doubles throughout his long time playing international badminton. His first appearances in the finals of major tournaments came with mixed doubles during the late 1990s. But he made his mark internationally in the men’s doubles in the 1999 Korea Open with Eng Hian. The subsequent titles for men’s doubles mostly with Hian and Limpele, include his participation in the Denmark (2000), Singapore (2002 and 2005), Japan (2002), Bitburger (2002), and German (2003) Opens and The Copenhagen Masters (2000, 2004). Hian and Limpele were briefly in England between 2001 and 2003. The pair later returned to Indonesia in the 2004 Summer Olympics. Flandy and Eng finished runners-up in the famous All-England Championships in 2002, and bronze medalists in the 2004 Athens Olympics.
After 2004, Limpele returned towards mixed doubles. In 2006, he team-up together with Vita Marissa to win a several top-tier events like those of the Singapore, Japan, French the Chinese Taipei and Singapore Opens and also winning the Southeast Asian Games title. They won bronze in the 2007 World Championships in Kuala Lumpur and also won the Badminton Asia Championships together in 2008.
