Firdous Ashiq (Punjabi, Urdu: frdws shq wn born on November 11, 1970) is a Pakistani politician from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. She was the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Information and Broadcasting from 2019 until 2020 and as the Federal Minister of National Regulations and Services from 2012 until 2013 and the Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting from 2011 until 2012, and the Federal Secretary for Population Welfare from 2008 to 2010.
Awan began her career as a politician in the year 1990 when she created her own organization called the Society for Health and Development and Exchange and fought to improve the health system. In 2002, she became a member of the National Assembly on a reserved seat on the PML (Q) ticket.
After being elected she was appointed as Minister for Population welfare in PPP’s cabinet. Awan was later given the portfolio of Information ministry in PPP’s regime. She presented her resignation to Prime Minister Yousef Raza Gilani on December 25, 2011, during the Special Federal Cabinet Meeting. It was later declined by the Prime Minister after holding a one-to-one meeting with Awan.
